Investors trade 269.89 million shares on Friday

digitalmarketingTransactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended Friday with investors trading 269.89 million shares valued at N1.73 billion in 4,044 deals.

This was in contrast to the 314.29 million shares valued at N2.89 billion that exchanged hands Thursday in 4,714 deals.

The market capitalisation of the listed entities ended on a positive note as it closed at N11.605 trillion to appreciate by N89 billion or 0.77 percent when compared with Thursday’s closing figure of N11.516 trillion.

In the same vein, the All Share Index, ALSI, improved by 278.94 points or 0.77 percent to close on Friday at 36,436.98 basis points as against Thursday’s 36,158.04 basis points.

The top five gainers chart on Friday was led by WAPCO which gained N8.50k in its share price to close at N98.50k per share while Guinness Plc was second with a gain of N5.40k in its share price to close at N254.00 per share.

Nigerian Breweries was third with a share price gain of N3.01k to close at N164.00 per share.

Ashaka Cement followed with a gain of N1.80k in its share price to close at N20.90k per share while UAC Property was last on the chart with a share price gain of N0.65k to close at N16.35k per share.

However, 7up was on top in the losers chart shedding N6.00 in its share price to close at N66.00 per share.

International Breweries was second with a drop of N0.70k in its share price to close at N19.05k per share while Cadbury was third with a loss of N0.50k in its share price to close at N45.50k per share.

Total was fourth with a share price loss of N0.50k to close at N156.51k per share while Jos Breweries was last on the chart with a loss of N0.48k in its share price to close at N4.38k per share.

The top five trades by volume chart on Friday was led by Transcorp with 121.87 million shares valued at N187.55 million while UBA was second with 25.83 million shares valued at N191.24 million.

Unity Bank was third with 21.82 million volume of shares valued at N12.38 million.

Sterling Bank came fourth with 11.07 million shares worth N25.05 million while GTB was last with 9.08 million shares worth N227.03 million.
