Abia governor presents N134bn appropriation bill to lawmakers

ABIA State Governor, Dr. Theodore Orji, Tuesday, presented the state’s 2013 budget estimates, which proposed an outlay of N134.1 billion, comprising N67.82 billion or 50.56 per cent as recurrent expenditure and N66.33 billion or 49.44 per cent as capital expenditure.

The budget is N4.19 billion or 3.2 percent higher than the N129.96 billion approved for last year.

Presenting the appropriation bill, which he called ‘Budget of Hope’ to the members in State’s House of Assembly, Orji said that the proposal is targeted at capital project developments to address the critical issues in the vision 20.20.20.

According to him, the state, in the coming year, will strive to increase its internally generated revenue to reduce dependence on the federal allocations following the adoption of direct bank lodgment of revenue.

He said that there will be massive road construction and reconstruction efforts, while completion of major projects and that the 17 council areas of the state will be encouraged to channel funds for maintenance of rural roads.

Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Sir Ude Oko-Chukwu, pledged that the House will give the presented budget accelerated deliberation for early passage.

    It is our hope that roads rehabilitation will be given priority attention in this so call “Budget of hope”.

    this man is a very selfish man,in aba,abia state i can remeber that each house contributed N10,000 each for construction of road and what did you do with the money?my god will punish you and your generations,go to aba,people are suffering and floods are eating up our building when rain falls it will take you one week to come out side,you are build mantion for your children with public money,you have no shame on you,theif
