Ekiti partners firm on tourism development

The Ekiti State Government in collaboration with Centre Stage Communications Limited has expressed its readiness to improve tourism in the state in line with the public-private partnership policy.

The Managing Director, CSC, Dr. Richie Adewusi, in an address at Ikogosi Ekiti Warm Spring Resort on Saturday, said there was need to develop the tourism potentials in the state.Adewusi, who said close to N60million would be invested into tourism development in the state, hinted that some programmes had been packaged to showcase the natural endowments in the state during Easter period. 

Programmes that are scheduled to hold between April 18 and 20 are 20 kilometres mini bike race from River Oni to Arinta Waterfall, 13 kilometres mini Marathon from Arinta Waterfall to Erinjiyan and Ikogoso Warm Spring Mountain Race.

The Managing Director, Ikogosi Warm Spring, Mr. Tolu Ajeyomi, who said the resort received an average of 20,000 tourists monthly, added that participants would be drawn to the programme both within and outside the state.

He said the winner of the race would receive a cash prize of N450,000.

Adewusi said Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration’s efforts on tourism had yielded tremendous results.

“Having this kind of programme will not only promote tourism, but would improve our health and general well being,” Adewusi said.
