82% of Nigerians Do Not Support Fuel Subsidy Removal Policy – Poll

According to a poll conducted by BusinessNews, 82% of Nigerians do not support President Jonathan’s decision to remove fuel subsidy, believing it was the wrong decision.

Respondents to the survey came from diverse locations including Norway, Sudan, Sweden, Turkey, Libya, Egypt, UK and the USA.

The table represents 90% of the respondents and their comments, 82% of respondents said no, they do not support the government’s decision.  15% said yes they support the decision and another 3% had other opinions.

One respondent commented on the decision saying, “Wrong time, lack of transparency, justification & information.”

Other respondents in conditional support of the decision to remove the subsidy stated that “corruption should be stopped” and “refineries should be built and existing refineries should be refurbished”.
