Lekki-Epe International Airport: A Breath Of Relief

Lekki-Epe international airport which has been a conversation in and out of the country has finally gotten a financial partner,L Stanbic IBTC Bank.  The bank CEO, Sola David-Borha has described it as a testament to their commitment to infrastructural development in Lagos State, their strong belief in Nigeria and sureness in its huge developmental potential.

The Lekki-epe international airport which is located about 10km from Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) and it is expected to gulp NGN71.64bn in its first phase and it is expected to cater for Airbus A380, which experts said makes it a code F complaint airport. It is expected to begin operations with initial capacity of 2million passengers per annum and exceeding 5million by 2015.

This is one of the finest moment for Lagos and the nation at large. It is a welcome development. It can only result in better service delivery through competition and concession. We expect to see a world-class airport that will rival the likes of others around the globe.  We expect that this will give fillip to the ongoing free trade development project coming up in the same area. We expect to see robust trade, increase investment of this likes, transfer of technology and boost to our human talent through capacity development.

In all, we welcome its potential to boost economic activities in the state and especially for the peninsula. Its potential to drive urban development and tourism activities are going to be transformational for the surrounding communities. We appreciate government effort at addressing airport congestion, overwhelmed and decaying infrastructure. Lekki-epe international airport is a breathe of relief.
