The Head, Retail Products of UBA, Mrs. Osun yomi Olumide, has said that the bank has concluded plans to extend the benefits of its Ruby Account to Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic and some other West Africa counties in a bid to boost the financial capacity of the womenfolk in the region.
She noted during an interview that the Ruby Account was a gender-specific product designed for female customers of UBA to satisfy some of their business and personal needs.
According to Olumide, towards helping to build those she described as discerning women of substance, the account is conceived to provide unique services to suite banking needs of female customers.
She said, “Ruby Account offers holders up to 25 per cent exclusive discounts to access products and services from our accredited partners nationwide. These include AA Rescue, Ruff and Tumble ,Laterna Ventures, Zaron lnternational, Clear Essence Spa, Avis Nigeria, Mega Care and Bulwark Vault.”
She added that apart from normal requirements that include identity cards and two references, the minimum operating balance for Ruby is N500,000.
“We have a luxury gift for every Ruby customer and it is a designed gift, although there is a certain balance for you to have it We expect customers to have done like two million, over six months. If you are in the bank we give you preference but you find out that the Ruby customers don’t have to come to the bank because all the transactions can be done through Internet banking.”
Inaugurated in 2012, the account is in its third phase of development as it had earlier been rebranded last year, with Olumide saying the current expansion would also cover Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
