NSE Market Index appreciates by 0.60%

Trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday closed upbeat with the All-Share Index improving by 0.60 per cent.

Index grew by 232.87 points, to close at 38,858.98 points from the 38,626.11 points recorded on Monday.

The market capitalisation appreciated by N74 billion to close at N12.481 trillion as against the N12.407 trillion achieved on Monday.

The appreciation was as a result of huge price gains by some blue chip companies.

A breakdown of the price movement chart indicated that Nestle led the gainers’ chart by N35.65 to close at N1,160 per share.

PZ followed with N1.18 to close at N32.18 per share while UAC-Property garnered N1 to close at N25 per share.

Zenith Bank rose by 75k to close at N21.75, while Stanbic IBTC gained 60k to close at N20 per share.

Presco led the losers chart with N1.90 to close at N40.10 per share.

Bocgas lost 33k to close at N6.33, while UBN dipped 29k to close at N10.15 per share.

Redstarex share price dropped 22k to close at N4.25, while Flour Mill decreased by 20k to close at N69.80 per share.

In all, a total of 354.031 million shares worth N4.88 billion were traded by investors in 4,533 deals compared with

344.796 million shares valued at N6.07 billion achieved in 4,127 deals on Monday.

Zenith Bank remained the most traded equity, accounting for 63.81 million shares worth N1.37 billion.

GT Bank came second on the activity chart with an exchange of 46.27 million shares valued N1.25 billion, while ETI sold 29.34 million shares worth N377.99 million.

FCMB recorded a turnover of 29.26 million, valued at N102.05 million, while Sterling Bank accounts for 27.78 million shares worth N71.37. (NAN)
