NIBSS, banks begin campaign on e-payment platforms

The Nigeria Interbank Settlement Scheme is collaborating with banks in the country to begin an awareness campaign aimed at enlightening the public on the benefits of e-payment platforms.

The NIBSS said the move was meant to encourage the usage and adoption of e-payment platform as payment options.

A statement by the Head, Corporate Communication, NIBSS, Lilian Phido, listed the benefits of e-payment platforms such as point of sale and instant payment platforms as convenience, safety and receipt of instant value.

Phido said e-payment would enable payments for transactions to be made using devices such as Automated Teller Machine cards, mobile phones, laptops, desktops, notebooks and iPads.

The spokesperson said, “These e-payment platforms have become globally acceptable means for financial transactions and encouraged Nigerians to adopt same for their transactions.

“It has asserted that the e-payment platforms are highly convenient, safe and efficient, and with improved infrastructure, transaction values can be received instantly. The improved efficiency of the e-payment platforms enhances greater penetration and accessibility to financial services by the people.”
