JTF dissociates itself from advert on sales of petroleum products

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta on Tuesday in Yenagoa dissociated itself from a newspaper advertorial on purported sales of petroleum products.

A newspaper advert in two national dailies on Jan. 28 and 31, offered for sale, refined petroleum products at the JTF’s headquarters in Yenagoa.

Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, spokesman for the task force, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN that the advert was fictitious and misleading.

“Joint Task Force Operation PULO SHIELD wishes to categorically inform the public that the Task Force is not connected to such advertorial.

“The JTF, hereby issues a disclaimer that the advert is false and a figment of imagination of the publishers of the material, aimed at duping the public.

“The JTF hereby warns that the general public should disregard such obnoxious advert placed by fraudulent syndicates.

“The Commander JTF Operation PULO SHIELD, Major General Iliyasu Abbah, hereby reassures Nigerians that the Task Force would continue to uphold its mandate of curbing illegal oil bunkering and crude oil theft.

“We are also committed to fighting pipeline vandalism and other acts of criminality that debilitate socio-economic life of Nigerians.

“The JTF Operation PULO SHIELD will continue to maintain zero tolerance for illegalities in the Niger Delta Area,” Nwachukwu said

He told NAN that investigations were underway to unmask the sponsors of the advertisement. (NAN)
