Market cap loses N12billion on Friday

Transactions at the Nigerian Stock Market, on Friday ended on a bearish trend as the market capitalisation of listed entities closed lower at N13.432 trillion losing by N12 billion or 0.09 percent when compared with Thursday’s closing figure of N13.444 trillion.

The All Share Index, ASI, also dipped by 39.95 points or 0.09 percent to close on Friday at 41,917.55 basis points as against Thursday’s closing figure of 41,957.50 basis points.

At the close of Friday’s transactions, investors traded 486.98 million shares valued at N6.15 billion in 5,947 deals as against the 348.24 million shares valued at N3.91 billion that was exchanged on Thursday in 5,868.

Nestle topped the losers chart on Friday with a loss of N15.00 in its share price to close at N1,180.00 per share.

Guinness was second losing N1.20k in its share price to close at N230.80k per share while Julius Berger in third spot lost N1.00 in its share price to close at N69.00 per share.

Zenith Bank was fourth shedding N0.90k in its share price to close at N24.60k per share while ETI was last on the chart with a share price loss of N0.47k to close at N16.50k per share.

However, Nigerian Breweries led the gainers chart appreciating by N1.99k in its share price to close at N164.99k per share.

Dangote Cement was second gaining N1.74k in its share price to close at N233.75k per share while CAP Plc in third spot gained N1.00 in its share price to close at N49.00 per share.

UACN was fourth with a gain of N0.97k in its share price to close at N71.20k per share while GSK was last on the chart with a share price gain of N0.50k to close at N69.00 per share.

Skye Bank led the top five trades by volume chart on Friday with 68.39 million shares worth N280.15 million.

Zenith Bank followed with 41.76 million shares worth N1.05 billion while Transcorp was third with 38.04 million shares valued at N153.31 million.

UBA was fourth with 36.72 million shares worth N327.95 million while FBNH was last on the chart with 35.92 million shares valued at N557.15 million.
