Investors trade 361.78 million shares on Wednesday

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on Wednesday with investors trading 361.78 million shares valued at N4.76 billion in 4,761 deals.

This was in contrast to the 449.13 million shares valued at N4.81 billion that was exchanged on Tuesday in 6,247 deals.

The market capitalisation of listed entities rose to N12.477 trillion gaining by N11 billion or 0.09 percent from Tuesday’s closing figure of N12.466 trillion.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, equally gained by 36.15 points or 0.09 percent to close on Wednesday at 39,011.31 basis points as against Tuesday’s closing figure of 38,975.16 basis points.

Unity Bank led the top five trades by volume chart on Wednesday with 79.59 million shares worth N44.19 million.

Zenith Bank followed with 58.77 million volume of shares valued at N1.25 billion while Oando was third with 26.87 million shares worth N375.61 million.

Continental Insurance was fourth with 23.97 million shares valued at N26.75 million while ETI was last on the chart with 23.60 million volume of shares worth N351.72 million.

The top five gainers chart on Wednesday was led by Cadbury with a gain of N2.85k in its share price to close at N59.85k per share.

Nigerian Breweries followed with a share price gain of N2.48k to close at N167.50k per share while GSK in third spot gained N1.20k in its share price to close at N66.00 per share.

Dangote Cement was fourth with an addition of N1.00 to its share price to close at N195.00 per share while Okomu Oil was last on the chart with a gain of N0.56k in its share price to close at N44.50k per share.

However, WAPCO was ahead of others on the losers chart with a loss of N5.26k in its share price to close at N100.00 per share.

Oando was second losing N1.00 in its share price to close at N14.00 per share while Nestle in third spot shed N0.50k in its share price to close at N1,249.50k per share.

Transcorp was fourth with a share price loss of N0.46k to close at N4.34k per share while CAP Plc was last on the chart with a loss N0.45k in its share price to close at N50.00 per share.
