Investors trade 279.47 million shares on Monday

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on Monday with investors trading 279.47 million shares valued at N3.58 billion in 4,506 deals.

This was in contrast to the 282.75 million shares worth N6.19 billion that was traded last Friday in 4,498 deals.

The market capitalisation of entities on the main board rose to N12.109 trillion gaining by N9 billion or 0.07 percent from last Friday’s closing figure of N12.100 trillion.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, equally gained by 27.43 points or 0.07 percent to close on Monday at 37,898.30 basis points as against last Friday’s closing figure of 37,870.87 basis points.

WAPIC led the top five trades by volume chart on Monday with 54.04 million shares worth N48.35 million while FTN Cocoa was second with 33.19 million shares worth N16.59 million.

Transcorp was third with 32.06 million shares valued at N79.27 million.

Sterling Bank was fourth with 14.74 million shares worth N33.09 million while Dangote Cement was last on the chart with 10.02 million shares valued at N1.85 billion.

The top five gainers chart was led by Conoil with a gain of N5.27k in its share price to close at N56.75k per share.

Forte Oil followed adding N5.24k to its share price to close at N110.14k per share while CAP Plc was third appreciating by N2.20k in its share price to close at N49.20k per share.

MRS was fourth gaining N0.96k in its share price to close at N42.75k per share while Transcorp was last on the chart with a gain of N0.22k in its share price to close at N2.48k per share.

However, Nestle was ahead of others in the losers chart with a loss of N5.00 in its share price to close at N1,215.00 per share.

Julius Berger was second with a loss of N3.34k in its share price to close at N71.66k per share while Cadbury was third with a share price loss of N0.81k to close at N59.00 per share.

Mobil was fourth losing N0.50k in its share price to close at N115.00 per share while Dangote Flour was last on the chart with a loss of N0.46k in its share price to close at N9.72k per share.
