Nigeria to tackle restrictions in ECOWAS region

The Nigerian government has promised to prevail on the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) to allow free movement of Goods and services and stop the harassment of Nigerians at the borders in West Africa.

President Goodluck Jonathan made the promise while answering questions during a meeting with Nigerians in Gambia during a two-day official visit to that country.

The president told them that his administration was making efforts to establish a National Carrier to ease movement from one country to another.

He promised that the government would provide a passport machine in Nigerian embassies to reduce the sufferings of Nigerians in acquiring their international passports.

President Jonathan pointed out that his administration was working hard to reposition the country and deal with the insurgency in the northern part of Nigeria.

He commended them for staying away from crime in the Gambia and urged them to bring back the expertise in Gambia’s tourism sector to Nigeria.

“We are making concerted efforts to stabilize the power sector so that small scale businesses can thrive. This will enable you to come home and invest.
“My administration is also giving attention to Agriculture, Commercial farming and job creation,” he said.
