Nigeria, India hold bilateral trade fair

THE maiden trade exhibition for promotion of bilateral relations between Nigeria and India in the field of pharmaceuticals and education is set to hold between today and tomorrow, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The High Commissioner of India to Nigeria, Mr. Mahesh Sachdev, who made this known in a press briefing in Abuja, recently, revealed the motive for the event, saying: “We are holding this event, because we are the market leader in Nigeria pharmaceutical industry, that is, we are the biggest source on pharmaceutical products for Nigerian consumer. So, we need to showcase what we have.

Also, we want to use the business trade fair to showcase Nigerian pharmaceutical products to Indian stakeholders, who are expected to come to Nigeria in large number. To be precise, we are expecting about 30 Indian pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria for the event”.

He noted that the fair would afford Nigerian pharmaceutical industry to showcase its potentials and product to the Indian stakeholders and the platform would also be used to integrate the Indians with Nigerian market.

“One of the motives for the educational fair is to integrate India and Nigeria educational system through collaboration in that sector. We plan to bring education providers in India to Nigeria and introduce them to their Nigerian counterpart and we would like to augment Nigeria capacity to provide quality education on their own soil. If the India management and Nigeria management can come together, then we want them to, in collaboration provide quality education for Nigerians. This event will also offer Nigerian students opportunity to study in India and improve their skills,” he said.
