Stock Market Watch: Market cap gains N22billion on Monday

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on a bullish note on Monday as the market capitalisation of equities on the main board gained N22 billion or 0.19 percent to close at N11.804 trillion higher than last Friday’s closing figure of N11.782 trillion.

The All Share Index, ASI, also appreciated by 59.52 points or 0.16 percent to close at 37,051.14 basis points as against the 36,991.62 basis points figure of last Friday.

The top five trades by volume chart on Monday was led by Zenith Bank with 30.79 million shares worth N669.49 million while Fidelity Bank was second with 28.53 million shares valued at N80.09 million.

Transcorp followed with 24.95 million volume of shares worth N42.24 million.

UBA was fourth with 18.58 million shares worth N139.44 million while Access Bank was last on the chart with 18.01 million shares valued at N188.34 million.

Mobil led the losers chart with a loss of N1.40k in its share price to close at N118.00 per share.

It was followed by UACN with a share price loss of N1.00 to close at N62.50k per share while WAPCO was third losing N0.50k in its share price to close at N98.50k per share.

FBNH was fourth with a loss of N0.33k in its share price to close at N16.17k per share while Access Bank was last dropping N0.20k in its share price to close at N10.30k per share.

However, Forte Oil topped the gainers chart appreciating by N4.92k in its share price to close at N52.92k per share.

Cadbury was next with a gain of N2.31k in its share price to close at N53.91k per share.

Conoil was third with a share price gain of N1.44k to close at N30.24k per share while Flourmill’s share price inched up by N1.00 to close at N82.00 per share.

PZ was last on the chart with a gain of N0.73k in its share price to close at N38.00 per share.

In all, investors exchanged 264.38 million shares worth N2.96 billion in 4,189 deals as against the 291.83 million shares valued at N3.58 billion that was traded in 4,075 deals last Friday.
