Stock Market Watch: ASI rises by 0.96% on Wednesday

The bullish trend continued Wednesday at the stock market as the All Share Index, ASI, gained 355.13 points or 0.96 percent to close at 37,259.65 basis points higher than Tuesday’s closing figure of 36,904.52 basis points.

The market capitalisation of the entities on the main board equally appreciated by 0.96 percent or N113 billion to close on Wednesday at N11.867 trillion as against Tuesday’s closing figure of N11.754 trillion.

Dangote Cement led the top five gainers chart with a share price gain of N4.94k to close at N194.94k per share.

It was followed by Forte Oil with a gain of N2.23k in its share price to close at N47.80k per share while Okomu Oil in third position gained N2.00 in its share price to close at N45.50k per share.

Cadbury Plc was in fourth position appreciating by N0.94k in its share price to close at N50.25k per share while Zenith Bank was last with an addition of N0.92k to its share price closing at N21.17k per share.

On the losers end, Mobil came first dropping N4.50k in its share price to close at N110.05k per share.

Guinness was in second position with a loss of N1.40k in its share price to close at N245.60k per share.

It was followed by International Breweries which shed N0.58k in its share price to close at N19.41k per share while Julius Berger was in fourth position with a loss of N0.40k in its share price to close at N8.30k per share.

Portland Paint was last on the chart with a share price loss of N0.25k to close at N4.81k per share.
The top five trades by volume chart on Wednesday was led by Transcorp with 65.71 million shares worth N107.82 million.

Hmarkins followed with 50.24 million volume of shares valued at N25.12 million while Access Bank was third with 26.83 million shares worth N284.44 million.

GTB was fourth with 12.47 million shares valued at N316.80 million while Unity Bank was last on the chart with 12.37 million shares worth N7.09 million.

In all, investors traded 288.02 million shares worth N2.38 billion in 4,482 deals as against the 283.71 million shares valued at N2.97 billion that was traded Tuesday in 4,467 deals.
