Stock Market watch: Market Cap sheds N12billion on Thursday
Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Thursday ended on a negative note as the market capitalisation recorded a loss of N12 billion or 0.1 percent to close at N11.533 trillion as against the N11.545 trillion mark of Wednesday.
Similarly, the All Share Index, ALSI, equally shed 35.21 points or 0.1 percent to close at 36,224.44 points as against the 36,259.65 points recorded on Wednesday.
At the close of trading, Julius berger topped the gainers chart accumulating N2.95k in its share price to close at N76.95k per share.
It was followed by Unilever Plc which gained N2.75k to close at N58.75k per share while Dangote Cement was third with an increase of N1.50k in its share price to close at N193.00 per share.
Guinness also added N1.00 to its share price to close at N248.50k per share while PZ was last in the top five gainers chart with a gain of N0.76k to close at N39.90k per share.
On the losers end, Nestle Plc occupied the front row shedding N3.99k in its share price to close at N935.00 per share.
NNFM was second with a loss of N2.84k to close at N25.65k per share while Nigerian Breweries was third with a loss of N1.52k in its share price to close at N163.48k.
Others on the losers chart are UAC-PROP which lost N1.18k in its share price to close at N15.00 per share and FBNH which shed N0.60k in its share price to close at N15.20k.
The top five trades by volume chart at the end of Thursday’s trading was led by Royalex with 66.17 million shares valued at N36.39 million.
It was followed by Access bank with 36.23 million shares at N380.20 million while Unity bank was third with 28.05 million shares valued at N14.16 million.
Others are Vono with 22.50 million shares valued at N35.49 million and Continsure with 21.99 million shares worth N26.35 million.
In all, investors exchanged 322.69 million shares valued at N2.87 billion in 5,027 deals at the close of transactions on the floor of the Exchange on Thursday.
This was in contrast to the 188.46 million shares valued at N2.54 billion that exchanged hands in 5,062 deals on Wednesday.
