DPR seals up 20 fuel stations in Lagos

DailyPost has reliably gathered that at least 20 filling stations in Lagos state were on Thursday shutdown by the Department of Petroleum resources, DPR. This, it said was part of its efforts to curb sharp practices in the distribution of petroleum products in the state.

The development followed a random check by the DPR officials who went round the metropolis searching for erring filling stations.

The filling stations were shut down for offences ranging from under-dispensing to poor house-keeping and improper storage of petroleum products.

From one point to another point of Idimu and LASU Road, some filling stations were sealed for one fraudulent act or the other.

AP filling station by Unity Estate was sealed for short-changing consumers by as much as 1.34 liters. Other affected stations are Safe Trip Station, First Royal, Omolad Oil and Services, Walesaf and Fara Oil stations, among others.

Some of the stations were alleged to have been under-dispensing by as much as two litres.

The DPR said the stations will remain sealed, just as the operators stand the risk of losing their licences.
