Nigerian Stock Exchange Watch: ASI gains 0.76% to close 2012 Up 35.35% At 28,078.80

The NSE All Share Index gained 0.76% the last day of the year. The market pulled off a strong recovery in 2012 thanks to government intervention and the return of foreign investors.
The banking sub-sector was predominantly bullish as most stocks closed in the north. FCMB (+8.7%), Zenith (+4.62%), and UBA (+3.4%) were the best performers.
The Breweries subsector also performed well, Nigerian Breweries (+1.38%), International Breweries (+1.31%), and Guinness (+1.06%) were also all closed in the clear.
Dangote Cement was quiet in today’s trading, however WAPCO (-1.46%) closed in the red.
