Intercontinental emerges 2010 best mobile transaction bank

IN continuation of its sustained pedigree and dominance of the Mobile banking segment of the Nigerian banking sector, Intercontinental Bank Plc has emerged 2010 Best Mobile Transaction Bank.

This was revealed at the annual award ceremony organised by e-tranzact over the weekend in Lagos.

According to e-Tranzact, one of Nigeria’s foremost switches, the award was given to the bank for the most outstanding mobile transaction bank on e-Tranzact platform.

This is coming on the heels of the bank’s emergence as the best e-payment bank of the year and best e-payment team of the year for 2009, organised by InterSwitch Limited at the Annual Techno Interactive Conference.

The bank equally won the Postilion’s 2008 and 2009 Award for Growth based on the highest percentage growth in transaction volumes.  Postilion is a United States based provider of integrated solutions for self-service banking and payment processing.

Intercontinental Bank has one of the largest networks of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Point of Sale (POS) terminals in the industry coupled with innovative use of e-payment products, deployment of various card schemes, business and educational portals, channels schemes and services.

In clear demonstration of its support for rapid growth of e-payment transactions in Nigeria, the bank was the first to launch Verve card, supported by massive deployment of Verve cards and processes the highest number of transactions. This is in addition to the launch and deployment of Nigeria’s first Hajj Card for Islamic pilgrimage and the first ever co-branded Rotary ATM card in Africa.

In 2010, investigation carried out revealed that the bank was still leading in terms of Verve card issuance and usage, which makes it easily the leading bank in e-banking product deployment in the Nigeria.
