By on September 3, 2012

The management of Flour Mills Plc, one of Nigeria’s most capitalized blue-chip companies has disclosed that the firm would soon emerge the second largest flour miller in the world.

Mr. Emmanuel Ukpabi, CEO of the company, said it planned to spend N9.7 billion on plant expansion facilities in order to increase the milling plants to 15.

The West Mill designed to host 4 of the company’s plants with a capacity of 2,750 tonnes per day is said to be near completion. This will bring the company’s flour production total to 18,500 tons per day.

Ukpabi restated the company’s commitment to quality and cutting-edge technology.

He said, “Our millers and quality assurance personnel continue to attend courses in the USA, Europe
and South Africa for improved skills and exposure to modern technology.

“In order to formalise our commitment to product quality assurance, we have commenced the process of seeking accreditation to the quality standard ISO 9001:2008. This will help set a benchmark to
measure our performance against best global practice within the flour milling industry,” he added.
