N 8 billion Kaduna Indomie Factory Second Largest in the World

Dufil Prima Foods, the manufacturers of Indomie instant noodles recently commissioned the phase 1 of its Kaduna factory built by its subsidiary Northern Nigeria Noodles.

The phase 1 gulped $ 20 million in construction costs even as the entire factory is expected to cost $ 50 million (N 8 billion), making it the second largest noodles factory in the world after Singapore.

The factory is expected to employ over 25,000 Nigerians. Speaking at the commissioning on Tuesday, Governor Patrick Yakowa said, “The Indomie plant will attract more investors to the state, and by God’s grace the landscape of Kaduna will wear a new look industrially and commercially. In the next few years, Kaduna will become and investment hub in the northern part of the country.

He added, “Northern Nigeria Noodles approached me in 2011 for a parcel of land to build a world-class noodle factory.  I assessed them and made them to sign an undertaking that they will not delay the completion of the project.  Today, I am happy that I am not regretting the decision to hand over the land”.

Also promoting the investment climate of the state, the governor said, “The state is working to ensure that there is availability of electricity and water. We are also not relenting in tackling insecurity in the state.  The Kaduna, Abuja railway would soon commence operation.  We are very much dedicated to reviving the industrial sector of the state”.

Chairman of Dufil Prima Foods, Haresh Aswani said, “In 1988 we started trading in Indomie, but today we are inaugurating the most modern Indomie plant in the world and this is just the beginning”.

He said the factory was the largest in Africa and the most modern in the world.

“We have established a palm oil, flour mill and spice processing factory to supply raw materials to our new and existing plants.  We are providing jobs for over for many people in Nigeria.   In fact, by 2015, the company would have been able to employ over 1.5 million Nigerians.  This is just the beginning. We look forward to the commissioning of the third and fourth phases of this project”, he added.
