Iroko Partners Raises $8 million in Financing for Nollywood Focused Company

Iroko Partners owners of iROKtv, the online site with exclusive rights to distribute Nollywood movies has secured $ 8 million in financing from foreign investors as earlier reported by techloy.com.

The financing was raised through the assistance of Tiger Global, an emerging markets focused investment firm based in New York. The deal was secured after a series of meetings with investors in San Francisco and New York.

The financing will be used for the company’s international expansion plans including increasing staff strength in its London as well as launching its New York office for business development activities.

The company will also focus on going beyond movie distribution and begin original content creation.

Jason Njoku, founder of iROKtv said, “We are attempting to finally solve the global distribution and monetization problem for Nigerian movies aoffices nd music…[and] evangelizing Nigerian entertainment to Madison Avenue.”
