MAN tasks FG on Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called on the federal government to adhere to the implementation of Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP) initiative, noting that NIRP is the nation’s flagship industrialisation roadmap that  will fast-track industrialisation, accelerate inclusive economic growth, job creation, transform Nigeria’s business environment and stop the drain on the foreign reserves caused by importing what  can be locally produced in the country.

MAN President, Dr Frank Jacobs, made the call in an interview with journalists in Jos at the weekend.

He noted that the programme which was launched during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, when fully implemented, is also expected to generate  N5trillion revenue target  from the  manufacturing sector annually
Jacobs added that the association desired to see the implementation of the programme by the APC-led administration in line with its promise to better the lives of Nigerians.

He said: “If we should analyse this properly,we will discover that the bail out we need in this country can come from the manufacturing sector because we see the roadmap as the best way to diversify the economy.”

He also urged the strengthning of  polytechnic and monotechnic education in the country to enable them realise the objectives for which there were established.

“Currently, the polytechnic and monotechnic education that are suppose to play strategic roles in Nigeria’s industrialisation goal and strategy are faced with a lot
Challenges.These need to be addressed frontally to enable graduates from these institutions function effectively towards the realisation of the target.”
