FG suspends pension directorate boss

By on March 18, 2016

The Executive Secretary/Director-General, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, Mrs. Nellie Mayshak, has been placed on suspension by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

A director in the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation has been appointed as the acting executive secretary/director-general of the directorate.

While there were allegations that the suspension was as a result of scam running into billions of naira, a statement signed by the Director, Corporate Services, PTAD, Atiku Saleh, stated that the details on issues relating to the suspension had yet to be made available by the government.

“The PTAD wishes to assure pensioners that this development will not affect pension payments and services,” he stated.

In 2013, the Federal Government commissioned the PTAD to manage the pensions of its retirees under the Defined Benefits Scheme and appointed Mayshack as the head of the office.

Retirees under the DBS have continued to lament the non-payment of their entitlements.

Some of the problems confronting the Federal Government retirees include non-payment of gratuity and pensions, non-payment of arrears, and omission and arbitrary delisting of their names from the payroll.
