Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Etisalat Nigeria and an initiative of the Ondo State Government have emerged as some of the top brands in this year’s edition of Consumersng Awards.

The concept, put together to recognise businesses that were adopting digital technology to meet the needs of customers, is also aimed at further encouraging the use of modern tools to solve the demands of daily transactions.

While GTB emerged as the Bank of the Year, Ondo’s smartcard initiative known as Kaadi Igbe Ayo was adjudged the best in e-governance.

Etisalat, Jobberman, Jumia, Interswitch and Carmudi were voted the best brands in the telecoms, job creation, online retailer, online payment platform and car search site of the year categories respectively. Thirteen other brands were also recognised by consumers.

Speaking on the innovation, Head, Communications, Consumersng, Funsho Williams, said the idea was initiated in recognition of brands easing the burden of service delivery which is otherwise encountered between manufacturers and consumers through digital technology.

She said, “We commend the disposition of the 20 winning brands towards the businesses they do, and promise that we will do all in our capacity to position them as models for others to emulate in a country where people-centred plans is continually on the decline.

“While this award might not mirror the impressive financial gains of service providers, it is our pride that the idea is based on consumer’s merit and it reflects the reality of services valued.”
