The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria has organised a valedicroty lecture in honour of the Group Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mr. Bisi Onasanya, who is due to retire by the end of this year.

Onasanya is retiring after a career spanning over three decades of diverse management and operational experience, of which 21 years has been spent with First Bank.

The CIBN instituted a valedictory lecture series in 2008 to acknowledge the contributions of individuals who have reached the pinnacle of their career in banking.

The lecture is the third in the series and Onasanya will be speaking on the topic: ‘Banks, bankers and the imperatives for sustainable banking’.

The event, which will be chaired by a former Managing Director of the bank, Chief Joseph Sanusi, is scheduled to hold on Tuesday in Lagos.

A statement by First Bank said the first two CIBN valedictory lectures were delivered by a former Managing Director of First Bank, Mr. Jacobs Ajekigbe, on January 13, 2009; and Prof. Adedoyin Soyibo, a pioneer director of the Master of Science (Banking and Finance) programme in the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan, on March 19, 2013.
