NIPC, BCDA to attract investment to border communities
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has pledged to work in close collaboration with Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) to attract investments into the border communities in the country in order to develop and provide them with social amenities.
The Executive Secretary of NIPC, Mrs. Uju Aisha Hassan Baba spoke when she received the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Numoipre Wills and his team at the NIPC headquarters.
She assured the delegation of NIPC resolve to use the LAKAJI Development Projects being piloted by NEXTT and USAID to bring beneficial investments into the border communities along the corridors.
The United States Agency for International Development Nigeria (USAID |Nigeria) in collaboration with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) is currently implementing the Nigeria Expanded Trade and Transport (NEXTT) Project which is expected to promote investments, trade, and the economic well – being of Nigerians.
The project is an integrated approach to economically develop the Lagos – Kano – Jibiya otherwise known as (LAKAJI) Corridor of eight contiguous states by promoting investments in agribusiness, advocating for business friendly policies along the Corridor, and supporting the development of infrastructure along the Corridor.
She stated that the Commission is determined through its mandate of promoting and attracting investments into the country will ensure that beneficial investments are brought into the country in order to create wealth and generate employment for Nigerians and also develop the communities.
Hassan Baba commended the Executive Secretary of BCDA for identifying with the Commission in order to promote its agency activities and realise its set goals.
Also, Wills said he was in the Commission to seek for closer working relationship in order to develop the border communities through investments and provision of social amenities as they have been neglected over the years, stressing that the mandate of my agency is to build schools, health centers, promote agriculture and small scale enterprises in the communities.
