Sokoto to continue with fertiliser subsidy – Tambuwal

Considering its importance in the agricultural value chain, Sokoto State government has said it would continue with the policy of providing fertiliser subsidy to farmers across the state.

This, according to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is aimed at boosting production, increasing farmers’ purchasing power and ultimately improving on the quality of farm yield from the state.

Speaking when he had an informal meeting with members of commodity associations in Sokoto, Tambuwal said the ultimate goal is to stimulate economic growth and ensure reduction in poverty level among rural populace.

He said all over the world, governments come in to assist farmers with various subsidies, as such Sokoto government will not allow market forces to determine price of such an important commodity
