CAC confers awards on nine organisations

The Corporate Affairs Commission has conferred Corporate Citizens Award on nine companies.

A statement signed by the commission’s Director, Public Affairs, Churchill Williams, stated that Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc bagged the Most Extensive Compliance Award, while Access Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc won the More Extensive Compliance Award.

It added that the Extensive Compliance Award was conferred on the United Bank for Africa Plc, Asha Microfinance Bank Ltd and Lafarge Africa Plc.

According to CAC, Above Basic Compliance category went to Leadway Assurance Ltd and Nigerian Breweries Plc while Yobe Investment and Securities Ltd was given the Basic Compliance Award.

The statement said that the awards were presented by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Olusegun Aganga, who was the chief host and the Chairman of the Board of the Commission, Otunba Funso Lawal.

In his keynote address at the award night, Aganga said that the award would recognise corporate citizens who had distinguished themselves in the conduct of their business and promote the culture of good statutory compliance in Nigeria.

The minister expressed delight that the award started during his tenure, adding that good business conduct was a major principle of his ministry because it would create the requisite environment for rapid economic growth and development.
