Kaduna Electric Alerts of Plot to Sabotage Its Operations

The management of Kaduna Electric has alerted the public on efforts by some disgruntled elements to sabotage its operations. It accused some members of the immediate past management team of the company and some of those who lost the bidding process as among those behind the efforts.

Kaduna Electric also said on Sunday in a statement issued in Kaduna by its Head of Corporate communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, that those behind this mischief have resorted to instigating staff of the company to down tools and have been sponsoring campaigns of calumny in the media.

The statement said: “We have rehably gathered also that some members of the immediate past management of this company have been sponsoring some segment of staff to sabotage our efforts. We also know that they have been using a faction of the labour union to sponsor unrest in our offices. This is completely unacceptable and runs against civilised behaviour.

“In addition to the past management, we also know that some groups that lost out in the bidding process which saw our choice as preferred bidder by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) are also unrelenting in their efforts to sabotage us. They have also been sponsoring campaigns of columny in the media and inciting labour unions against us.”

Kaduna Electric further said it inherited enormous challenges when it took over some months ago and has been putting measures in place to tackle those challenges.

“Some of the efforts we have initiated to tackle these challenges include; planned rehabilitation of injection substations, procurement of transformers, installation of over 100,000 meters by the end of the year as part of our overall plan of procuring about 500,000 meters, GIS mapping of customers and assets, reliability improvement and baseline studies to allow for better services to our customers. We have also began putting in place a strong imformation technology backbone that will ensure our operations are seemless and fully automated.”

It also said its recruitment exercise was in progress after receiving about 60,000 applications for various job openings, adding that it planned to create about 15,000 direct and indirect jobs to bolster and reenergise its workforce to meet the challenge of providing efficient power supply to its customers.

It urged the public to ignore all mischief makers and assured of its resolve to move the company to greater heights.
