Pipeline vandalism hinders national development – IPMAN

The newly elected Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Ilorin branch, Alhaji Okanlawon Olarenwaju, has said that the high level of pipeline vandalism in the country is dangerous to national development.

In an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Friday on the sidelines of the inauguration of new executive officials of the association, he identified pipeline vandalism as a major sabotage to the economy.

Olanrenwaju, however, said efforts would be made to address the menace.

According to him, his administration will partner with the government and security agencies to confront pipeline vandalism.

He also said IPMAN was uncomfortable with the high price of kerosene despite the fall of oil in international market.

Olarenwaju said, “We are also concerned about the high price of kerosene despite the fall in international oil price but government is doing a lot.

“Pipeline vandalism is our major challenge. But the grace of God, we will collaborate with the state government and security agencies to address the menace.

“We shall collaborate with the state government and all other stakeholders in complimenting the NNPC surveillance efforts towards the proper and effective monitoring of our pipelines.
