N7.8m ETPs traded last week – NSE
A total of 384,740 units of Exchange Traded Products worth N7.858m were traded in 22 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange last week.
This was in contrast to 1.043 million units valued at N13.747m traded the preceding week in 45 deals.
The NSE report for the week ended November 21, 2014, showed that the highest traded ETP was the Lotus Halal 15 ETP. A total of 300,015 units of the ETP worth N3.018m were exchanged by investors in two deals.
According to the report, 82,965 units of the Vetiva Griffin 30 ETP valued at N1.262m were traded in 12 deals, while 1,760 units of the New Gold ETP valued at N3.577m were exchanged by investors in eight deals.
Also, a total of 700 units of FGN bonds valued at N753,213 were traded in four deals compared with a total of 2,950 units valued at N3.271m transacted last week in six deals.
In the week under review, a total of 1.359 billion shares worth N14.565bn were traded in 20,844 deals on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 1.850 billion shares valued at N30.863bn that exchanged hands the previous week in 27,397 deals.
The report noted that the financial services sector led the activity chart with 1.056 billion shares valued at N7.186bn traded in 10,962 deals.
Activities in the sector contributed 77.70 per cent and 49.34 per cent to the total equity volume and value, respectively.
The conglomerates industry followed with a turnover of 111.742 million shares worth N618.169m in 1,465 deals, while the oil and gas sector occupied the third spot with 65.489 million shares worth N2.046bn in 2,420 deals.
According to the report FBN Holdings Plc, Sterling Bank Plc and Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc accounted for 409.470 million shares worth N2.464bn in 4,421 deals.
Trading in the shares of the three companies accounted for 30.14 per cent and 16.92 per cent of the total equity turnover and value, respectively.
Also in the week under review, the NSE All Share Index and market capitalisation shed 4.11 per cent to close on Friday at 33,926.18 basis points and N11.241tn, respectively.
The report also noted that all the indices depreciated during the week, except the NSE Banking Index which rose by 0.34 per cent and the NSE Alternative Securities Market Index, which gained 5.78 per cent.
