Lagos seeks collaboration with NIPCO on LPG

The Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Taofiq Tijani has called for more strategic partnership between the state government and NIPCO Plc to further enhance usage and availability of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), otherwise called cooking gas for rural dwellers and low income households.

Such partnership, he noted, will broaden options for the successful implementation of the Eko Gas Initiative of the state government launched last year, especially taken into consideration the massive storage capacity of the company at its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant in Apapa, Lagos.

Tijani, who was particularly delighted at the small size cylinders showcased by the company at the just-concluded African Outdoor Advertising Conference and Exhibition hosted by the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency in Lagos, stated this when he visited NIPCO stand at the exhibition.

He restated that the Eko Gas scheme, which represents an integral part of the state government’s LPG project, is aimed at encouraging the utilisation of LPG in the state and also marked a turning point in the present administration’s efforts to ensure safer and cleaner environment as well as reducing greenhouse emission.

Tijani, who commended the company’s contribution to growing LPG use across the country, said the organisation dwelt more on the provision of smaller size cylinders in the interest of common man who may not be able to meet up expenditure on bigger ones.
