NSE: Transactions remain upbeat on Wednesday

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday ended on a positive note for the fourth consecutive day.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, the All-Share Index appreciated by 247.01 points or 0.59 per cent to close at 41,987.55, against the 41,740.54 achieved on Tuesday.

Also, the market capitalisation rose by N82 billion or 0.59 per cent to close at N13.864 trillion, compared with the N13.782 trillion recorded on Tuesday.

Dangote Cement led the gainers’ table, that appreciated by N6.75 to close at N235 per share.

Mobil followed with a gain of N1.43, to close at N131.55 per share.

Lafarge Wapco gained N1.35 to close at N112, while Okomu Oil, chalked up N1.22 to close N33.48 per share.

However, Total appreciated by 55k to close at N171 per share.

Conversely, Oando Oil topped the losers’ chart, shedding N3.01 to close at N30.38 per share.

Nigerian Breweries trailed with a loss of N3 to close at N172, while PZ Cussons declined by N2 to close at N34.40 per share.

Stanbic IBTC shed 80k to close at N26, while Champion lost 56k to close at N10.70 per share.

NAN reports that the volume of shares traded, improved by 57.23 per cent with 978.542 million shares worth N8.49 billion traded in 5,983 deals.

This was against the 622.377 million shares valued at N7.76 billion exchanged in 7,921 on Tuesday.

Transcorp remained the most-traded stock with 576.94 million shares worth N3.03 billion.

Wapic Insurance followed with 73.94 million shares valued at N55.43 million, while Japaul Oil exchanged 42.59 million shares worth N29.77 million.

FBN Holdings sold 41.59 million shares worth N640.35 million, while Zenith Bank accounted for 28.89 million shares valued at N716.31 million. (NAN)
