Capital market indices appreciate by N12bn

The downward trend of equities in the last two days at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) rebounded on Wednesday as the market capitalisation gained N12 billion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation which opened at N13.582 trillion, increased by 0.09 per cent or N12 billion, to close at N13.594 trillion.

Also, the All-Share Index rose by 35.46 points or 0.09 per cent to close at 41,171.16, from the 41,135.70 achieved on Tuesday.

Nestle led the gainers’ chart by N10, to close at N1,070 per share.

MRS Oil gained N5.52 to close at N56.61, while SIMCAPVAL grew by N4.91 to close at N103.24 per share.

Nigerian Breweries appreciated by N2.58 to close at N167, while Oando Oil chalked up N1.85 to close at N25 per share.

On the other hand, Conoil recorded the highest price loss of N6.38, to close at N59.27 per share.

Mobil trailed with a loss of N3 to close at N129, while Dangote Cement dipped by N1.99 to close at N227.01 per share.

Presco lost N1 to close at N36, while GTBank depreciated by 20k to close at N30 per share.

Oando Oil emerged as the investors’ delight, accounting for 39.37 million shares worth N992.90 million in 962 deals.

Wapic Insurance exchanged 28.06 million shares valued at N19.82 million in 322 deals, while Transcorp sold 24.23 million shares worth 106.60 million in 344 deals.

In all, the volume of shares traded decreased by 5.48 per cent as investors exchanged a total of 295.94 million shares worth N5.43 billion in 6,335 deals.

This was against the 313.09 million shares valued at N4.06 billion traded in 5,066 deals on Tuesday. (NAN)
