We’re ready for Cat-1 – NCAA
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has reiterated its readiness for the reassessment by the United States’ Federal Aviation Administration of its Category One status slated to commence today (Monday).
A statement signed by the Acting Director-General, NCAA, Mr. Benedict Adeyileka, said Nigeria was ready for the four-member team coming from US FAA for the exercise.
According to him, the team will be in the country for five days to carry out the assessment of the NCAA’s compliance with relevant sections of International Civil Aviation Organisations’ standards contained in Annexes 1,6 and 8 of the eight critical elements of the state safety oversight as described in the ICAO document 9734 A.
Adeyileka said the team would use the current International Aviation Safety Assessment checklist and ICAO’s guidance material for the assessment.
“The eight critical elements that will be assessed are: primary aviation legislation; specific operating regulations; state civil aviation system, safety oversight functions; technical personnel qualification and training,” he said.
