Dangote lauds Monye over decongestion of ports
PRESIDENT of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has said that the country’s Economic Team will remain grateful to the Special Adviser to the President on Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Prof. Sylvester Monye, for the effective role he played in the decongestion of the nation’s ports.
Dangote, in Onicha-Ugbo, Delta State, at the commissioning of Africa Institute for Public Policy, built by Professor Monye, said: “This is a commendable initiative, coming at a time that Nigeria needs the right policy formulation backed by effective implementation to launch our nation to the next level of greatness. Therefore, this momentous event could not have come at a better time than this.”
He eulogised Monye’s qualities, noting that such a laudable idea was in tandem with the nation’s quest towards achieving economic transformation.
“We are witnessing a silent economic revolution in Nigeria driven by the transformation agenda of the current administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. We need the right policies to sustanin this growth.
“We also need to ensure that these policies are properly monitored and evaluated and above all, we need the right caliber of persons to drive these policies and ensure that we are right on track. You know that good policies without the right people will achieve nothing.
“I am delighted to note that my dear friend and brother, Professor Monye, who is a Special Adviser to the President on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation has performed creditably well in his role.”
