Oando urges FG to check fake lubricants
Oando Marketing Plc has called on the Federal Government to curb the influx of sub-standard lubricants into the Nigerian market.
The Chief Operating Officer of the company, Mrs. Olaposi Williams, was quoted in a statement on Wednesday as saying that the influx of fake and sub-standard foreign lubricants into Nigeria was not good for the industry.
Despite this, she said Oando Marketing had remained a market leader because of continued commitment and steadfastness in products quality.
She, therefore, appealed to the Federal Government not to relent in its campaign to check the influx into the country.
Williams, who said this during a recent Lubes Distributors’ Awards organised by the company, commended the distributors for their hard work, astuteness and resourcefulness in making sure that the Oluem range of lubricants remained the leader in the market.
She said, “Whereas 2013 was a difficult and challenging year with attendant negative factors militating almost all sectors of the economy, lubricants market inclusive, the distributors persevered and excelled in promoting Oando lubricants to higher pedestal in the market.”
Williams gave an assurance that Oando distributors would continue to receive support and incentives from the company.
The statement said Oando Marketing rewarded some of its distributors for their commitment and diligent partnership.
The distributors were said to have met and exceeded the 2013 targets in the sale of Oando Oleum range of lubricants.
The reward, according to the company, includes incentives ranging from cash prizes to 15kv generator, and a new Nissan pickup.
The Lubricant Research and Development Manager, Mr. Mohammed Dahiru, said that the award initiative was instituted as the company’s way of recognising the distributors for their outstanding performance in 2013.
He recalled that the company last year made a promise to reward distributors that met their target or exceeded it.
Alhaji Hamizu Dantiki of Hamizu Kantiki Limited, who won the star prize of a new Nissan truck, commended Oando Marketing for the gesture.
He said, “I appreciate Oando for this support and award. I and my fellow distributors have been further challenged to push Oando lubricants in the market. Now that we have better information and education about the brands, particularly the painstaking production process and the quality of the products, we shall definitely excel the more.”
