Investors stake N4.8bn on 341.165m shares on NSE

Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday exchanged 341.165 million shares worth N4.8 billion in 4,993 deals.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this was in contrast to the 239.864 million shares worth N2.4 billion traded in 4,352 deals on Monday.

The All-Share Index, however, depreciated due to price losses by 365.02 points or 0.92 per cent to close at 39,199.41 as against 39,564.43 recorded on Monday.

Similarly, the market capitalization, which opened at N12.708 trillion, declined by N117 billion or 0.92 per cent to close at N12.591 trillion.

NAN reports that Nestle led the price losers’ chart by N25 to close at N1,075 per share.

Nigerian Breweries dropped N13.98 to close at N145.01 while Guinness lost N9.10 to close at N179 per share.
ConOil depreciated by N2.58 to close at N49.12, while International Breweries dipped by N1.30 to close at N27.25 per share.

On the other hand, Lafarge Wapco topped the gainers’ chart by N4.46 to close at N110 per share.

Glaxosmith, Unilever and Dangote Cement gained N1 each to close at N70, N49 and N240 per share, respectively, while UAC- Property grew by 98k to close at N20.97 per share.

NAN reports that Zenith Bank emerged investors’ delight as it traded 75.91 million shares valued at N1.63 billion.

UBA followed with 34.60 million shares worth N272.94 million while Transcorp sold 32.05 million shares valued at N114.95 million. (NAN)
