Why Emefiele emerged CBN Governor

Facts have emerged as to why President Goodluck Jonathan settled for the Zenith Bank Managing Director, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, as the new Governor of Central Bank.

Sources said the Zenith Bank CEO was picked as a result of his outstanding character and disposition to professional ethics. His highly principled and independent mindedness apart from the fact that he has not been involved in the banking politics was said to have recommended him for the CBN top job.

On why Jonathan dropped a former top bank executive, touted as a possible successor to Sanusi, a source said he was never in the thinking of  government since he has been so much involved in this government. “Mind you, he is a member of think-tank of the Jonathan government made up of professionals assembled to advise the government from time to time and he has featured prominently in the oil subsidy investigation panel”, one of the sources said.
“So any attempt to pick him would have provoked negative reactions from the opposition and the civil society”.
