NSE ASI inches up by 1.18% on Thursday

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on Thursday with the All Share Index, ASI, rising to 41,957.50 basis points gaining by 487.56 points or 1.18 percent from Wednesday’s closing figure of 41,469.94 basis points.

The market capitalisation of listed entities equally appreciated by N156 billion or 1.17 percent to close on Thursday at N13.444 trillion as against Wednesday’s closing figure of N13.288 trillion.

FBNH led the top five trades by volume chart on Thursday with 43.79 million shares valued at N678.15 million.

FCMB was second with 24.95 million shares worth N99.04 million while Continental Insurance was third with 20.27 million shares worth N22.92 million.

Cileasing was fourth with 18.72 million shares worth N11.95 million while NSLTech was last on the chart with 18.02 million shares valued at N11.89 million.

Nestle topped the gainers chart on Thursday with an increase of N35.00 in its share price to close at N1,195.00 per share.

WAPCO followed gaining N4.00 in its share price to close at N120.00 per share while Forte Oil in third spot gained N2.57k in its share price to close at N92.81k per share.

Dangote Cement was fourth appreciating by N2.01k in its share price to close at N232.01k per share while Unilever was last on the chart with a share price gain of N1.35k to close at N54.71k per share.

However, Guinness led the losers chart with a loss of N6.00 in its share price to close at N232.00 per share.

Nigerian Breweries was second shedding N1.32k in its share price to close at N163.00 per share while Okomu Oil in third spot lost N0.40k in its share price to close at N43.99k per share.

Learn Africa was fourth losing N0.20k in its share price to close at N1.99k per share while CCNN was last on the chart with a share price loss of N0.19k to close at N10.31k per share.

At the close of Thursday’s transactions, investors exchanged 348.24 million shares valued at N3.91 billion in 5,868 deals as against the 327.16 million shares worth N3.37 billion that was traded on Wednesday in 5,904 deals.
