Market Cap gains N90billion in 4 days
The market capitalisation of entities on the main board appreciated by N90 billion or 0.68 percent within 4 days to close last week Friday at N13.365 trillion as against the previous week’s closing figure of N13.275 trillion.
The NSE All-Share Index, ASI, equally appreciated by 270.93 points or 0.65 percent to close last Friday at 41,751.55 basis points as against the preceding week’s closing figure of 41,480.62 basis points.
Likewise, the NSE 30, NSE Consumer Goods and NSE Banking indices appreciated by 0.80%,0.30% and 2.23% respectively.
However, the NSE Insurance, the NSE Oil/Gas, the NSE Lotus Islamic Index and NSE Industrial indices depreciated during the week by 1.17%, 2.03%, 0.43% and 0.32% respectively while NSE-ASeM closed flat.
Information gathered from the Exchange indicated that Forty four equities appreciated in prices during the week higher than thirty four equities of the preceding week.
Thirty seven equities depreciated in prices lower than Forty seven equities of the preceding week while one hundred and seventeen equities remained unchanged the same with one hundred and seventeen equities of the previous week.
A turnover of 1.514 billion shares worth N18.333 billion in 25,016 deals were traded last week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 1.722 billion shares valued at N22.443 billion that exchanged hands the previous week in 29,600 deals.
The Financial Services Industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 992.851 million shares valued at N8.087 billion traded in 12,205 deals, thus contributing 65.59% and 44.11% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The Conglomerates Industry followed with a turnover of 155.994 million shares worth N1.071 billion in 1,719 deals while the third place was occupied by the Oil and Gas Industry with 140.090 million shares worth N2.529 billion in 4,101 deals.
Trading in the top three equities namely, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, First City Monument Bank Plc and Unity Bank Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 328.881 million shares worth N1.034 billion in 1,965 deals, contributing 21.73% and 5.64% to the total equity turnover volume and value
respectively.
Also traded during the week were a total of 85 units of NewGold Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) valued at N162,775.00 executed in 1 deal compared with a total of 105 units of NewGold valued at
N198,945.00 transacted the previous week in 2 deals.
Similarly, 2,000 units of FGN bonds valued at N2.127 million were last week traded in 20 deals compared with a total of 2,800 units of FGN bonds valued at N2.645 million transacted the previous week in 10 deals.
A report on the Over-the-Counter, (OTC) market for FGN bonds indicated that a turnover of 1.170 million units valued at N1.160 billion traded in 5 deals was recorded last week.
Japaul Oil & Marine Services topped the gainers chart for last week with an increase of N0.10k in its share price to close at N0.68k per share.
DN Meyer followed with a gain of N0.14k in its share price to close at N1.55k per share while Zenith Bank in third spot gained N1.91k in its share price to close at N25.11k per share.
University Press Plc was fourth gaining by N0.31k in its share price to close at N4.30k per share while Vitafoam Plc was fifth with a share price gain of N0.34k to close at N5.22k per share.
Other companies on the chart are- Portland Paints, UBA Capital Plc, Pfizer, Courtville and Airline Services.
However, the losers chart was led by Julius Berger which shed N7.19k in its share price to close at N65.10k per share.
C&I Leasing followed losing N0.05k in its share price to close at N0.55k per share while Forte Oil in third spot lost N6.00 in its share price to close at N83.00 per share.
Ashaka Cement was fourth with a share price loss of N1.26k to close at N19.91k per share while IHS Plc was fifth losing N0.18k in its share price to close at N3.00 per share.
Mansard Insurance, May & Baker Plc, Wema Bank, Champion Breweries and Northern Nigeria Flour Mills completed the list on the chart.
