Market cap gains N275billion on Tuesday

The last trading day of the year at the Nigerian Stock Market ended on bullish trend as the market capitalisation of listed entities climbed to N13.226 trillion on Tuesday, gaining by N275 billion or 2.12 percent from Monday’s closing figure of N12.951 trillion.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, equally closed higher at 41,329.19 basis points to gain by 857.06 points or 2.12 percent when compared with yesterday’s closing figure of 40,472.13 basis points.

At the close of Tuesday’s transactions, investors exchanged 562.44 million shares worth N3.91 billion in 3,710 deals.

This was in contrast with the 423.66 million shares worth N3.85 billion that was traded in 4,206 deals on Monday.

Sterling bank led the top five trades by volume chart on Tuesday with 160.99 million shares worth N398.54 million.

Eterna was second with 67.66 million shares valued at N297.71 million, while NEM was third with 53.29 million shares worth 39.92 million.

Unity bank was fourth with 39.04 million shares worth N19.52 million while Transcorp was last on the chart with 27.13 million shares worth N117.48 million.

Forte oil led the losers chart on Tuesday with a loss of N10.55k in its share price to close at N97.75k per share.

Cadbury was second shedding N1.87k in its share price to close at N59.01k per share while Guinness in third spot lost N0.90k in its share price to close at N236.00 per share.

Okomu oil was fourth, losing N0.79k in its share price to close at N44.00 per share, while Livestock was last on the chart with a share price loss of N0.15k to close at N4.30k per share.

Nestle, however, led the gainers chart, appreciating by N25.00 in its share price to close at N1,200.00 per share.

Dangote cement was second with a gain of N6.19k in its share price to close at N218.99k per share, while Nigerian Breweries in third spot gained N3.80k in its share price to close at N167.90k per share.

Zenith bank was fourth with a gain of N2.53k in its share price to close at N27.40k per share, while Oando was last on the chart with a share price gain of N2.25k to close at N24.25k per share.
