We’ll pass PIB in 2014 – Rep

CHAIRMAN, House Committee on Petroleum Resources, downstream sector, Dakuku Peterside, has said the National Assembly would pass the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, next year.

Peterside, who made this disclosure at the weekend said ”both legislative chambers are at the top of the PIB and I’m sure we will pass it in 2014. “
He explained that “the PIB is at a stage we call the technical session where the committees involved look at the bill holistically before formal presentation for adoption.”

On the frosty relationship between the House of Representatives and the executive arm of government, the Rivers legislator simply said:  “As far as the House is concerned, there is no rancour between us.   On our part we legislate and if the executive fail to execute we compel them to do so. “
