NAHCO handled 20 million passengers last year – Chairman

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc handled over 20 million passengers moving in and out of Nigeria last year, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the company, Alhaji Suleiman Yahyah, has stated.

He also said the company handled 1.7 million tonnes of cargo during the same period.

Yahyah said this on Monday after handing over to the 62 children of the Abuja Orphanage Home in Karu area of the Federal Capital Territory some gift items.

He said, “NAHCO Plc is the largest and most successful ground handler in sub-Saharan Africa. It is a company undergoing significant transformation and handled over 20 million passengers moving in and out of Nigeria last year. It is a company that handled 1.7 million tonnes of cargo moving in and out of Nigeria last year.

“It is a company that services over 40 of the 45 international flights that arrive daily into the country. It is a company that is facilitating trade and movement of people across the major international airports in the country, and presently, we have over 1,700 Nigerians as employees.”

While presenting the items, Yahyah said the company would find a way of going into a strategic partnership with the orphanage with a view to continuing its support.

He said, “We will work towards establishing a strategic partnership with the orphanage, which will mean that we will be seen as its strategic supporter, look at its programmes and see which ones to finance.

“We will also mobilise our people to come in on a day that is important and spend the day with the residents.
