Konga makes history with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals

By on December 1, 2013

Since starting its Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on the 29th of November, online retailer, Konga, says its website has recorded the highest number of online visitors.

In a statement made available to Telegraph, the company said: “response from Nigerians has been amazing so far, we have broken every record from orders to traffic in online retail history in Nigeria ever.”
Some of the company’s promotional offers include the Playstation 4, originally priced at  N140 000, which will be sold for N60 000; the TECNO Phantom A+ smartphone that will sell for N19,000 instead of its original price of N39,000 ; and the Huawei Ascend W1 will sell for N12,000 only, instead of N25,000.
Responding to customers’ complaints that the website was inaccessible, Konga revealed that this was due to overcrowding by online shoppers.
“If you have been following our sales this morning you will notice that the page crashed due to overwhelming engagement from Nigerian shoppers.
“To quickly remedy the issue we have increased our website capacity to more than double of the current capacity, we have also created an alternative way for people to shop by putting up “SALE” tag on products that will be on sale.
“Customers should simply look out for products with the ‘SALE’ tag on product images and enjoy amazing discounts,” a representative who chose to speak on the condition of anonymity added.
Konga’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals will end on December 2, 2013.
Black Friday is regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the United States, where most major retailers offer promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season.
