Investors trade 559.50 million shares on Friday

Transactions on the last trading day of the week at the Nigerian stock market ended with investors trading 559.50 million shares valued at N8.31 billion in 4,788 deals.

This was in contrast to the 252.65 million shares worth N2.58 billion that was exchanged in 4,717 deals on Thursday.

The market capitalisation of entities on the main board was down by N3 billion or 0.02 percent to close lower on Friday at N12.448 trillion when compared with Thursday’s closing figure of N12.451 trillion.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, equally dipped by 7.80 points or 0.02 percent to close at 38,920.85 basis points as against Thursday’s closing figure of 38,928.65 basis points.

Transcorp led the top five trades by volume chart on Friday with 247.79 million shares worth N900.76 million.

Julius berger was second with 78.12 million volume of shares valued at N5.47 billion while WAPIC was third with 46.23 million shares worth N45.37 million.

Unity Bank was fourth with 44.71 million shares worth N24.69 million while IHS was last on the chart with 18.72 million shares valued at N49.79 million.

The top five gainers chart on Friday was led by Forte Oil with a gain of N5.27k in its share price to close at N114.00 per share.

Flour mill was second gaining N4.16k in its share price to close at N89.20k per share while Total in third spot gained N1.01k in its share price to close at N165.01k per share.

Champion Breweries was fourth with a share price gain of N0.80k to close at N16.95k per share while Nigerian Breweries was last on the chart with a gain of N0.41k in its share price to close at N168.41k per share.

However, Okomu oil led the losers chart shedding N2.10k in its share price to close at N42.40k per share.

Julius Berger was second with a loss of N1.01k in its share price to close at N69.00 per share while Ashaka Cement in third spot lost N0.92k in its share price to close at N20.10k per share.

Transcorp was fourth with a share price loss of N0.37k to close at N3.56k per share while Dangote sugar was last on the chart with a loss of N0.30k in its share price to close at N11.00 per share.
