Investors trade 1.16 billion shares on Friday

Transactions at the Nigerian Stock Market on the last trading day of the week ended on an impressive note as investors traded 1.16 billion shares valued at N7.92 billion in 6,534 deals.

This was in contrast to the 557.14 million shares worth N6.89 billion that was exchanged on Thursday in 6,377 deals.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, closed higher on Friday at 39,246.05 basis points to gain by 126.17 points or 0.32 percent when compared with Thursday’s closing figure of 39,119.88 basis points.

The market capitalisation of listed entities also rose to N12.552 trillion appreciating by N40 billion or 0.32 percent from Thursday’s closing figure of N12.512 trillion.

Equity Assurance led the top five trades by volume chart on Friday with 417.29 million shares valued at N208.65 million while Transcorp was second with 324.21 million volume of shares worth N1.91 billion.

Oando was third with 62.35 million shares worth N993.84 million while ETI followed with 48.08 million shares valued at N676.95 million.

Unity Bank was last on the chart with 47.04 million shares worth N32.46 million.

The top five gainers chart on Friday was led by Guinness with a share price gain of N9.99k to close at N259.99k per share while Mobil in second spot gained N1.97k in its share price to close at N116.00 per share.

Okomu oil was third with a gain of N1.39k in its share price to close at N43.39k per share while Nigerian Breweries was fourth gaining N1.35k in its share price to close at N170.35k per share.

NASCON was last on the chart with a gain of N0.80k in its share price to close at N13.57k per share.

However, Total led the losers chart with a loss of N7.75k in its share price to close at N160.10k per share while Flour mill in second spot lost N2.45k in its share price to close at N84.05k per share.

Presco was third with a share price loss of N1.10k to close at N35.00 per share while Dangote Cement was fourth with a loss of N1.00 in its share price to close at N195.00 per share.

Conoil was last on the chart losing N0.97k in its share price to close at N67.93k per share.
