NSE ASI inches up by 0.78% on Thursday

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on Thursday with the All Share Index, ASI, closing higher at 39,119.88 basis points appreciating by 304.24 points or 0.78 percent when compared with yesterday’s closing figure of 38,815.64 basis points.

The market capitalisation of entities on the main board also climbed to N12.512 trillion gaining N97 billion or 0.78 percent from Wednesday’s closing figure of N12.415 trillion.

At the close of Thursday’s transactions, investors traded 557.14 million shares worth N6.89 billion in 6,377 deals as against the 328.99 million shares worth N3.71 billion that was exchanged in 4,625 deals yesterday.

Guinness topped the top five gainers chart on Thursday with a gain of N8.02k in its share price to close at N250.00 per share.

Flour mill was second gaining N3.00 in its share price to close at N86.50k per share while MRS in third spot gained N2.58k in its share price to close at N54.44k per share.

Unilever was fourth with a share price gain of N2.05k to close at N61.30k per share while Oando was last on the chart with a gain of N1.18k in its share price to close at N16.74k per share.

However, Mobil led the top five losers chart with a loss of N1.52k in its share price to close at N114.03k per share while Nigerian Breweries in second spot lost N1.00 in its share price to close at N169.00 per share.

Ashaka Cement followed losing N0.50k in its share price to close at N21.50k per share while UAC Property was fourth with a share price loss of N0.40k to close at N18.00 per share.

Mansard was last on the chart with a loss of N0.10k in its share price to close at N2.25k per share.

The top five trades by volume chart on Thursday was led by Oando with 168.61 million shares worth N2.87 billion while Transcorp was second with 74.82 million volume of shares valued at N400.26 million.

ETI was third with 37.95 million shares worth N529.49 million while FCMB was fourth with 34.09 million shares valued at N119.31 million.

UBA Capital was last on the chart with 29.81 million shares worth N41.88 million.
